Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1959, Joe MacPhale says "I was inspired to the arts by looking at nature and enjoying the world of fantasy". Joe has manifested a God-given talent for creating, and also competing in different art mediums, ever since he was a very young boy. He is the son of a seamstress, and an industrial sewing machine mechanic. Joe mastered his techniques through the years in the following areas, sewing, wood-carving, costume designer, jeweler, Scottish attires, millinery, prop/model maker including - movie prosthetics, hair and makeup artist, portraits in airbrush, and a total of 26 years experience working at Walt DisneyWorld. He is also the former master designer for the Mark II dinner theatre in Orlando.
Joe’s art reflects a combination of artistic talent, skill, and knowledge of his subjects. Joe says “I thank God for the talent he's given me, and I feel blessed in being able to share them with others". Joe goes on to say” The vision is there, all put together from start to finish - it's just in my head " ”I simply start sketching and measuring here and there, and I'm off”
The ability to capture a moment in time, best describes his work as a sculptor. Joe will continue to learn, by studying his favorite artists and experimenting on his own with color, composition, different mediums and technique .
